Alliance Comments on Loudoun County’s
Draft 2040 Countywide Transportation Plan

Last night the Alliance joined nearly 100 different organizations and individuals in commenting on Loudoun County’s draft 2040 Countywide Transportation Plan. The Alliance’s comments focused on three key priorities:

1.) Applauding Loudoun County’s leadership identifying two potential corridors for a New Potomac River Crossing, which will carry over 100,000 trips per day, reduce congestion on the American Legion and Point of Rocks bridges, and improve connectivity between Loudoun and Montgomery County. Indentifying these locations encourages further action by Maryland to address this critical need.

2.) Focusing transportation investments on the areas of the transportation network with the most need, rather than geographic location. When evaluating future transportation investments, the County would be best served to weigh congestion relief as the priority for funding.

3.) Improving North-South Mobility – Loudoun County’s planned improvements and extension of Northstar Boulevard and the Loudoun County Parkway as well as U.S. 15 improvements are critical to achieving the County’s economic development and job creation objectives.
