Restore Northern Virginia Transportation Funding
In 2018 the Virginia General Assembly diverted over $100 million annually from regional and local transportation projects to fix Metro. At that time, the Alliance warned that taking from Peter to pay Paul was not a long-term solution to Northern Virginia’s transportation problems.
Now there is a plan in the General Assembly to raise statewide transportation revenue, but only partially restore Northern Virginia, leaving a $25 million/year gap in Northern Virginia Transportation Authority funding.
Northern Virginia requires full restoration of the funding authorized by the General Assembly in 2013 to build the comprehensive, multi-modal transportation network it needs to relieve congestion, increase mobility, maintain economic prosperity and create a better quality of life for all of us.
