Coalition of Business Organizations urge USDOT Secretary Chao to restore transit funds
A coalition of 17 business organizations sent a letter to US Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao urging her to suspend the decision to withhold federal transit funds from VA, MD and DC to allow the two state legislatures to finish their work on the federally required legislation to establish a Metrorail Safety Commission (MSC). The letter points out that the original February 9, 2017 deadline for establishing the MSC was arbitrary and fell in the middle of the 2017 VA and MD General Assembly sessions.
